Our trip with AHA to Alaska was a dream come true for me.  I was able to reconnect with one of my best friends, in the great state of Alaska, which is where our friendship started when we were both stationed there as young Airmen.   Not only that, but I was also able to finally show my son the beauty and awe of the great north.  He has heard stories about Alaska since birth, and he has always wanted to go and experience it. Words cannot describe how awesome it was to see the excitement in my sons’ eyes while he got to experience first-hand the amazing salmon runs, wildlife, and the sheer beauty of Southeast Alaska.  I have spent many years away from my family and this was an incredible father and son bonding trip for us.  As for myself, I have dealt with many injuries as well as PTSD. This was the first big trip that I was able to partake in since I got out of Physical therapy. This trip enabled me to get away from the big city I’m currently stationed in, and really helped rejuvenate my mind, body, and soul.  It was an absolutely amazing trip, and I am forever grateful. Thank you so very much!
